Pastor Michael Carl Hickmon was born and reared in the Mississippi Delta in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He attended public schools in Clarksdale and graduated from Clarksdale High School. After graduating from high school, he attended Coahoma Community College where he received an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He continued his education at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Administration Degree in Business Administration. He has also attended the Charles Harrison Mason System of Bible College and is presently enrolled in Azusa Ministerial Training Institute in Phoenix, AZ. Pastor Hickmon continued his education by taking a series of courses which enabled him to become a licensed real estate appraiser.

In the past, Pastor Hickmon has served as President of the Youth Department and State Minister of Music for the Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, COGIC. Currently Pastor Hickmon serves as the Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Chairman of the USAC Convention and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.

Pastor Hickmon and Paulette Hickmon were united in holy matrimony on July 2 1983 by Bishop T. T. Scott. They have been blessed with five children. They are Carla Janiece, Tiffany Michelle, Michael Carl, Marian Carlesia, and Montrell Adelle Stone Hickmon.

Pastor Hickmon accepted the call to go to Charleston, Mississippi in 1984. There were only four or five members and only one car on the parking lot. God has tremendously blessed since then. Hundreds of souls have been saved and delivered under his ministry. Some of the major accomplishments that have been achieved under Pastor Hickmon's leadership include the following:

* Purchased land across the street, adjacent to the church, and behind the church
* Purchased church van and begin transportation ministry
* Remodeled kitchen and dining facility
* Established Tiny Miracles Day Care Center
* Established church radio broadcast which can be heard on KBUD 102.1 FM (Sun: 9:15am - 9:30am | Tues & Thur: 12:15pm - 12:30pm)
* Set up conferences to teach men and women how to live better and more productive lives
* Set up Soul Winning Across Town
* Set up media ministry with state of the art cameras and sound system
* Erected new (10,000 sq. ft.) sanctuary, offices, and classrooms
* Renamed the church Abundant Harvest Church of God in Christ (formerly St. Mary Church of God in Christ)
* Set up ministerial staff to work with the pastor and the parishioners
